Construction Case
2015 | Datong, Shanxi · New Mine Ventilation Shaft Construction Project
Due to years of extensive mining at a certain state-owned old mine in Datong, the underground ventilation system had severely deteriorated, resulting in seriously insufficient ventilation capacity and continuously excessive gas concentrations, posing a major safety hazard that directly threatened the safety of underground personnel. There was an urgent need to construct a new deep, large-diameter ventilation shaft to improve ventilation conditions and reduce the risk of gas accumulation. The construction area featured high formation hardness, strong rock abrasiveness, and locally fractured, collapse-prone zones. Conventional drilling rigs suffered from slow penetration rates, long construction periods, and high costs, and repeatedly experienced borehole collapse and pipe sticking accidents, failing to meet the delivery schedule and severely constraining the mine's safe production progress. After on-site surveys and repeated assessments, our company's technical team selected the CMD100 fully hydraulic truck-mounted drilling rig, equipped with a large-diameter, high-air-pressure DTH hammer, and adopted the air DTH hammer high-efficiency drilling process. The opening borehole diameter was Φ350mm. After completing the surface section, casing was promptly installed to stabilize the borehole wall and prevent collapse. The second section was drilled using a Φ254mm DTH hammer down to the predetermined roadway location. Finally, stepwise reaming was carried out to a final diameter of Φ500mm. Throughout the process, borehole wall stability and verticality were strictly controlled. The project was successfully completed in 43 days, with a final depth of 303 meters. The ventilation shaft featured a stable borehole wall, precise verticality, and ventilation capacity fully meeting the mine's safety design standards. This completely resolved the mine's ventilation safety hazards, significantly reduced the risk of gas explosions, provided a solid safeguard for the safety of underground personnel, supported the standardization of mine safety production, and received high recognition from the client.
2014 | Weinan, Shaanxi · National Mine Emergency Rescue Drilling Technology and Equipment Drill
Domestic mine accident rescue operations have long faced a core challenge: the lack of mature, large-diameter life channel construction equipment in environments prone to collapse and roof fall. Conventional equipment struggles to simultaneously meet the four key demands of drilling in complex formations, creating large-diameter boreholes, lowering rescue capsules, and achieving rapid equipment deployment, making it difficult to ensure rescue efficiency and safety. This drill was designed to systematically verify the extreme operational capability, operational stability, construction safety, and practical adaptability of domestically manufactured rescue equipment, providing an authoritative basis for the selection of rescue equipment nationwide and promoting the localization and standardization of mine rescue equipment in China. Our company, as the core technical support unit, provided the CMD100 fully hydraulic truck-mounted rescue drill rig, equipped with a 711mm large-diameter cluster DTH hammer and utilizing an air-powered positive circulation high-efficiency drilling process. The on-site setup fully simulated a real mine collapse accident scenario, completing the construction of a large-diameter rescue borehole and successfully lowering a 660mm capsule rescue pod, with all operations strictly following actual rescue standards. Throughout the drill, the equipment experienced zero failures, operated stably, achieved high drilling efficiency, produced precise boreholes, and lowered the rescue pod with zero deviation. All performance indicators met the national technical standards for mine rescue. The drill received unanimous recognition from attending leaders, industry experts, and front-line rescue teams, becoming a benchmark case for the localization and standardization of China's mine emergency rescue equipment, and providing valuable practical experience and technical references for future accident rescue operations.
2013 | Jilin City · Positive Circulation Pneumatic DTH Hammer Drilling for Geothermal Well Construction
August 2013: A geological exploration team in Jilin City, Jilin Province, carried out a geothermal resource exploration project, drilling a deep geothermal well. They selected the CMD100 intelligent truck-mounted drilling rig and adopted the positive circulation pneumatic DTH hammer drilling process. The formation in this project was mainly hard granite and metamorphic rock, with high rock hardness and strong abrasiveness, imposing extremely high demands on drilling rig torque, rotational speed, and drilling efficiency. Traditional processes were prone to slow penetration rates and severe drill tool wear. During the construction process, the CMD100 drilling rig demonstrated excellent hard-rock drilling performance and set multiple industry records: The final borehole depth reached 2,004.42 meters, setting the deepest drilling record in China for positive circulation pneumatic DTH hammer drilling using a fully hydraulic drilling rig. The opening hole diameter was Φ311mm, and the final hole diameter was Φ190mm, with a drilling inclination of 90°. Both borehole verticality and wellbore stability met the design requirements. Additionally, the rig achieved a highly efficient drilling record of 192 meters of penetration in a single 8-hour shift, with an average penetration rate of 24 meters per hour, significantly shortening the project duration. This case fully demonstrates the high efficiency and stability of the CMD100 truck-mounted drilling rig in hard-rock geothermal well construction, providing a benchmark example for deep geothermal resource exploration in China.
2013 | Large-Scale Construction Project of In-Situ Leaching Uranium Wells in Ordos, Inner Mongolia
The Ordos Basin is a national key uranium resource base, characterized by a wide mining area, a large number of boreholes, densely distributed drilling points, and frequent relocation of construction sites. These conditions require drilling rigs to possess high mobility, rapid positioning, and efficient construction capabilities. The formation in the work area is mainly interbedded sandstone and mudstone, with frequent alternations between soft and hard interlayers and generally moderate formation stability. During the drilling process, issues such as pipe sticking, borehole deviation, and slow penetration rates are prone to occur, imposing high demands on equipment stability, borehole verticality, and drilling efficiency. Our company selected the CMD100 fully hydraulic truck-mounted drilling rig, equipped with a high-torque hydraulic top drive and utilizing an air-powered rapid drilling process. The rig features rapid relocation, the ability to be positioned within one hour, and a high degree of automation. It can complete the entire process of hole opening, drilling, and well completion in one go, reducing auxiliary time. During the project, multiple batches of uranium exploration wells were completed efficiently, with a final hole diameter of Φ311mm and consistently stable borehole quality. This provided reliable equipment support for the national uranium resource survey and received high recognition from the client and the exploration authorities.
2013 | Coalbed Methane Well Drilling Construction in Shulan, Jilin (Wireline Coring Technology)
In March 2013, a geological exploration team in Jilin undertook the task of exploring coalbed methane resources in the local area. The construction site was located in Shulan, Jilin, where the CMD100 intelligent truck-mounted drilling rig was used for coalbed methane drilling operations. Based on the formation characteristics, the project adopted a segmented drilling process: the upper formations were drilled efficiently using a roller cone bit, successfully reaching the target coal seam at a depth of 740 meters. As required by the client, coring was necessary in the coal seam section. The construction team employed a PDC bit for wireline coring, drilling from 740 meters to 990 meters and completing a 250-meter coring task in the coal seam.  The CMD100 truck-mounted drilling rig has a maximum rotational speed of 300 rpm, fully meeting the technical requirements for coring in the coal seam. The coring process was stable and smooth, with the quality of the cores intact and up to standard. The project achieved a final hole depth of 1,130 meters, with a final hole diameter of Φ215.9 mm and a drilling inclination of 90°. This not only efficiently accomplished the established exploration objectives but also fully demonstrated the performance advantages of the drilling rig in coalbed methane exploration, segmented drilling in complex formations, and wireline coring operations. The project has accumulated valuable experience for similar future endeavors.
